ANCESTORS is a really interesting case of a band. Through their five release catalogue the band never stops to evolve and well…surprise the listener. “In Dreams And Time” is already the band’s third album and Ancestors once more came up with something new. The new album is radically different from “Of Sound Mind” or “Neptune with Fire” but closer to the vein of the “Invisible White” EP.

As with every bold step “In Dreams And Time” may diverse the followers of the band. I must say though that the new style of the band seems extremely fitting! Although I am not a huge fan of bands who change their signature style so much I can’t hide the fact that I consider “In Dreams And Time” the band’s best release to date.

Although the album cover art may remind something DREAM THEATER would choose as a cover for their new album, I assure you that the music is quiet heavier and the progressive passages (which do exist) are not so overworked or overcomplicated. Actually the progressive nature of the album can work as a bridge between PINK FLOYD’s sense of psychedelia and good old Stoner, Sludge and Space Rock.

“In Dreams And Time” provides some of the trippiest moments executed in a modern way and with a rather visionary touch. Below you can listen “First Light” which includes absolutely magnificent lead guitars. Definitely one of the most inspired works of the year and the only thing left to say besides “essential listening” is that I am curious to see where the future will lead them.
