Tentacle – Void Abyss(2012)

TENTACLE is the a side-project by (all) the members of ICE DRAGON. Do I have your attention? I believe so! If you like Doom and follow the scene the past 3 years or so then you ought to know that ICE DRAGON is one of the brightest stars of the genre.

In essence TENTACLE is ICE DRAGON… or at least their most sick, twisted and demonic side. I can see many similarities between the two bands but also huge differences that can be tracked even in core level!

TENTACLE’s music is darker, noisier and much more extreme. Guitars are dangerously flirting with noise/drone patterns while vocals sound generally way dirtier, while there are times you will even hear some growls. This vocal style is foreign to the Ozzy-like style of ICE DRAGON. Lyrics move on the same path as the rest of music! ICE DRAGON music has always been dark but it is the first time we see ICE DRAGON members exploring the dark side on this level and in such extend.

ICE DRAGON are incapable of writing bad songs therefore all TENTACLE songs are high quality material. Of course don’t expect the same level of catchiness from the “Void Abyss” compositions. All songs in this EP are much more claustrophobic. This isn’t what you would like to listen to while you drive to work!

Seems that inspiration is running wild on the ICE DRAGON/TENTACLE camp with monumental releases back to back. If ICE DRAGON decide to create another project I am sure that we’ll be talking about another great band! Listen to the entire EP for free below and get one of the limited CD’s as soon as you can!
