I noticed that lately more and more bands (especially in the metal circles) add southern rock elements in their sound. Some bands don’t hesitate to take it one step further and turn this southern feeling as the basis of their entire attitude. This musical movement has become really strong in my hometown, Athens, so this inspired me to do a brief survey for this phenomenon in worldwide scale. The results of this were impressive both in terms of quantity and quality. In my conscious there is a definite musical wave. Although most of the readers worship older southern rock bands like ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and dig newer bands like Clutch and Down, I feel that there is a big number of newer less popular bands that deserves some attention. This is a tribute to those bands!!! In a series of small posts I will review some amazing albums,  interview some cool bands and generally shed some light to what I call the New Wave of Southern Rock!
